Product description for Terroir al Limit Dits del Terra 2022 <\/p>\n

At an altitude of 400 meters, on the steep, south-facing slate slopes of Torroja del Priorat, the over 60-year-old Carignan vines for Dits del Terra grow. The barren soils and dry climate ensure low yields and high concentration. After being hand-picked, the grapes are fermented whole for 7\u201310 days and then aged in cement for eight months. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

The expansive, rich fruit of the 2022 Dits del Terra from Terroir al Limit evokes dark cherries, tart dark chocolate, and mild spices. With the transparent sparkle of the ruby-red fruit, it is reminiscent of elderberries, its ethereal-balsamic top note of wild fennel and star anise. Delicate and shimmering, it makes the lips purse expectantly towards the goblet. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, it presents itself with fine-grained phenolics, tightly woven, dense, and firm like the finest silk scarves. The transparent red fruit is framed by an invigoratingly tart note of dark chocolate. The flawless fruit once again shines in the finish, providing a driving retronasal impulse. A very balanced palate allows this medium-bodied wine to refill its glass with shimmering finesse, integrated acidity, and a fruity-tart finish.<\/p>\n

It’s always interesting to compare wines from the different vineyards, and the 2022 Dits del Terra is unusually floral and silky. The Cari\u00f1ena vines planted 60 years ago at 300 meters above sea level are south-facing, and the wine achieved 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.7. This was quite surprising, a warmer place in a warmer year delivered a more elegant, fresh, floral and aromatic wine. Cari\u00f1ena can sometimes surprise you like that. It matured in concrete and is nicely textured with fine-grained tannins, with grip, energy and balance. It’s a surprising version of this wine that transcends the character of the year. 4,516 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2023.
