The Negre 2022 from Terroir Sense Fronteres is a single-varietal Garnacha Tinta from vineyards in the Montsant region. The organically farmed vineyards are located in the hinterland of the Catalan Mediterranean coast at an altitude of 300 to 350 meters. The red wine was fermented with the stalks for one week and aged exclusively in steel tanks. Although young, it is already expressive and sensual and has reached drinking maturity. <\/p>\n

Initially, the wine has a subtle reductive note that disappears after some exposure to air, revealing fresh blue and red fruit, especially cherry. The attractive and extremely seductive bouquet also contains herbal nuances. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

The Negre 2022 is Garnacha par excellence: juicy red fruit, silky texture, fine tannins, and a spicy finish. It’s also impressive how fresh this red wine from such a hot vintage is. Despite the likely early harvest, the wine is aromatically mature and expressive. It’s crisp, but not green. The wine also appears much lighter on the palate than its 14% alcohol content would suggest. It exemplifies the new Spain and its motto “less is more”: less extraction, less wood, and less aging ultimately mean more freshness, precision, and finesse. This is straightforward elegance and easy drinking with depth. The Negre 2022 is certainly a prime example that contradicts the image of the heavy Mediterranean red wine.<\/p>\n

The red called simply 2022 Negre (“red” in Catalan language) is pure Garnacha from the south of Montsant that fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, where the wine matured for six months. It has 14% alcohol and a pH of 3.59. It’s pure fruit, very expressive, varietal and open with a sense of purity and harmony. It has a beautiful nose that is floral and clean, with red fruit notes. It’s juicy and light but with some grip that gives it seriousness. Like most of the range in 2022, they are a little warmer and rounder, varietal but not banal. This comes from purchased grapes that are worked organically. It’s very young but approachable. Beautiful. 17,100 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2023.

The 2022 Negre is 100% Garnatxa Negra from Montsant, fermented with whole clusters and stabilized in stainless steel tanks. Bright garnet in hue, this delicate wine reveals aromas of orange peel, chocolate and a faint sponge cake note. Dry, lean and refreshing, it offers a claret-like palate with a savory, easygoing flow\u2014a modern take on Montsant.
