Wine Information<\/h5>\n

Brisat is the Catalan term for white wines fermented with the skins. In regions such as Tarragona, Montsant, and Terra Alta, it used to be common practice to process white wine grapes this way. This also applies to the Brisat 2022 from Terroir Sense Fronteres. However, unlike the historical Brisats, which underwent oxidative aging in wooden barrels after fermentation, this one is aged in steel tanks. The wine, made from a single varietal of Garnacha Blanca, presents itself with a correspondingly pure and unvarnished character, thus combining local tradition with contemporary flavour. The grapes for the Brisat 2022 come from several vineyards in the Montsant region with clayey and sandy soils. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

A subtle smoky note mingles with fennel and ripe pear. The 2022 vintage appears somewhat riper and warmer than its predecessors, but is still impeccably fresh. Overall, the bouquet is more herbal than fruity. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, the Brisat presents itself with fine, silky tannins and plenty of grip. However, the tannin is less pronounced than in many orange wines. This white wine also possesses a stimulating spiciness, and the slight bitterness in the salty, mineral finish is appealing and invigorating. This wine is less about the fruit than about its structure and mouthfeel: it is full-bodied, grippy, and creamy, as well as tasty and therefore an excellent accompaniment to many dishes. This is a white wine with personality, which once again shows that the thick-skinned Garnacha Blanca is excellently suited to skin-on fermentation.<\/p>\n

The skin-contact white 2022 Brisat was produced with pure Garnacha Blanca from 15- to 35-year-old vines at 300 to 350 meters in altitude on clay and sandy soils. The cluster fermented for four to six days in stainless steel tanks, where the wine matured for six months. It has 12.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.46. From 2019 or 2020, it is only Garnacha from the south of Montsant, and they try to avoid high alcohol. It has a bright golden color, from a maceration that is not too long, and the stainless steel keeps more freshness with the skins. It’s aromatic, expressive and open, with notes of yellow fruit, pollen and herbs. It has a juicy and soft mouthfeel, with freshness and balance, clean, with a dry finish, a little rounder and riper this year. 9,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2023.

The 2022 Brisat is 100% Garnatxa Blanca from Montsant, fermented with three days of skin contact. Golden in hue, it presents petroleum and tropical notes with a subtle herbal layer. Dry, rich and taut due to the skins, it offers a chalky mouthfeel alongside a light palate. A savory oddity, this is perfect for adventurous wine enthusiasts.
