Wine Information<\/h5>\n

The Saign\u00e9e des Temp\u00eat\u00e9es<\/i> is a single-varietal Pinot Noir champagne from the “Temp\u00eat\u00e9e” single vineyard in \u0152uilly. The vineyard has a 13% slope with a northeast exposure at an altitude of 158 meters. It is characterized by calcareous clay soils. The vines were planted in 1981 by Denise, Geo, Micheline, and Jean-Mary Tarlant. There are 13 different clones in 13 rows. The harvest took place on September 3, 2018. Slow pressing took place after a 16-hour maceration by gravity. This was followed by spontaneous fermentation, and the base wine aged for seven months on its lees in Burgundy pi\u00e8ces. No malolactic fermentation took place. Bottled on April 5, 2019, and disgorged on June 3, 2024, with\u2014as always\u20140 g dosage. 3,700 bottles were produced.<\/p>\n

Transparent, yet intense saign\u00e9e red with fine perlage.<\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

This saign\u00e9e<\/i> has an expressive profile of candied rose and violet petals, blood orange and kumquat zest, pomegranate juice, wild strawberries, and red currants, mingling with light herbal and rock spice.<\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, the ros\u00e9 is chalky and cool in texture, with a clear acidity that is brilliant and almost surprising, given that 2018 was the hottest vintage in the last hundred years. This Champagne, like all Tarlants, is bone dry and polished and punchy. With aeration, it becomes increasingly reminiscent of Kriek with Scharbeek cherries. An excellent accompaniment to main courses, but also to not-too-sweet desserts and cheese.<\/p>\n
