. A unique wine from the terraced, steep Enkircher Ellergrub vineyard with ancient, ungrafted vines. The vines are on average over 100 years old. They grow on blue, hard slate with abundant quartzite inclusions. The old vines still produce a yield of just 15 hl\/ha. In 2023, due to the many wet days during the harvest, intensive selection was required. The yield recorded is only 300 liters. Aging naturally takes place in small steel tanks. The Auslese Goldkapsel from the Enkircher Ellergrub vineyard would be much more of a Beerenauslese. However, the decision was entirely understandable, based on style rather than analysis. From a purely sensory perspective, the 2023 vintage presents itself as a taut, easy-drinking Auslese. It thrives on a pull on the palate and tremendous acidity. An intense 10.6 g\/l of acidity awaits the 156 g\/l of residual sugar. The alcohol content is measured at 7.5 g\/l. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

The nose immediately captivates you. The fruit is concentrated, like nectar, yet wrapped in a dark, silky robe. Ellergrub, indeed. This phenomenal site, made up of ungrafted vines with over 100 years of age, offers the perfect conditions. Caramelized pear, quince compote, and baked apple flow from the glass. Candied ginger and lemon zest provide distinct accents. Acacia honey sets off distinct characteristics. Turmeric and saffron provide intense spiciness. Freshly chopped almonds go very well with it. Dried fruits also come into play. Apricot, fig, and raisin transport it to another aromatic dimension. In the background, associations of dried herbs constantly swirl, providing it with a tart freshness. And all of this seems never-ending. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

With the first sip, it proves that the fruit benefits from all these components of the nose. And yet, the first, sumptuous sip is followed by a moment of illumination. Its nectar-like structure flows over the palate, but then opens up immediately to welcome the numerous accents. Spices such as turmeric and saffron, as well as the candied ginger, are incredibly beautifully recognizable. The dried herbs also have an invigorating effect in the mouth. The fruit remains as multifaceted as it is on the nose. Its sweetness is well-focused and is flanked by a powerful acidity and the stony structure of its origins. And this is precisely how it strives towards an endless finish. WOW!<\/p>\n
