Wine Information<\/h5>\n

K\u00fchn’s portion of the Hallgartener Jungfer lies directly above the Doosberg at around 220 meters above sea level. The soil is erosion material from the Rheingau Mountains with a high quartzite content, mixed with loess clay. Slightly inclined to the southeast, the vineyard is somewhat cooler than the Doosberg. This Gro\u00dfes Gew\u00e4chs was matured in specially purchased Stockinger wooden barrels. The wine from the Hallgartener Jungfer is aged in the same barrel every year, which means the wood influence is barely noticeable. <\/p>\n

The Riesling Gro\u00dfes Gew\u00e4chs from the Hallgartener Jungfer 2022 is a complex work that combines very light, floating notes with grounded ones. It smells of blossoms, smoke, and earth, of cider apple, hay, a touch of fennel and anise, of almonds and peaches, with a hint of crushed slate. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, this Grosses Gew\u00e4chs appears pure, again floating and weightless with a single anchor of stone. Everything appears flowing, delicate, lively, and smooth, fragrant yet full of energy and subtle spice. It is a Riesling that balances lime and lemon with a subtle sweetness, as well as some salt and rock, and has a long finish. An outstanding Grosses Gew\u00e4chs.<\/p>\n

The palate is serene, feather-light and smooth, giving an impression of floating, scented serenity yet deeply anchored in soil. Tender, light but also concentrated, this is an unusual style, yet I suspect it will turn into purest balm. (Bone-dry)
