Product description for Sottimano Langhe Nebbiolo, Nebbiolo DOC 2023 <\/p>\n

Rino Sottimano started small but mighty, acquiring vineyards in the renowned Barbaresco “Cotta” site. Over the years, he added prime plots in the Curra, Fausoni, Basarin, and Pajor\u00e8 sites. Since 1990, the vineyards have been cultivated without the use of chemical-synthetic pesticides or artificial fertilizers. In traditional winemaking, maceration and fermentation last 12 to 24 days. Rino’s son Andrea ferments the wines only spontaneously and uses no other cellar-technical aids. Malolactic fermentation also takes place spontaneously in French barriques, with the use of new barriques so discreetly that the wood flavour is barely noticeable. After aging, the wine is bottled without filtration or any other fining. The wines impress with their delicate fruitiness, elegance, subtlety, and yet savoury character.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo, all from Basarin, is precise and finely cut. Crushed flowers, mint, spice, crushed rocks, rose petals and a kiss of blood orange all run through this translucent, wonderfully expressive Langhe Nebbiolo. This is a Barbaresco in all but name. Only its earlier release precludes its release with that appellation.
