The Valpolicella is also earthy in the mouth, with notes of dry wood. At the same time, however, it possesses wonderfully fine tannins and an elegant body, and as the wine warms, more and more fruit is revealed, reminiscent of dried black cherries and plums. This impressive performance is accompanied by a nuance of cloves, cinnamon blossoms, and floral elements that characterize the long, lingering finish. It&#8217;s a good thing that you have to open a magnum of this wine straight away. <\/p>\n<h5>Wine Information<\/h5>\n<p> A cuv\u00e9e of approximately 70% Corvina, 20% Corvinone, and 10% Rondinella and Molinara from the single vineyard Campo Casal Vegri. The vineyards are located in the Classico zone at an altitude of 150 to 300 meters. They face east and have clay and limestone soils with a high stone content. The Valpolicella Classico is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a maximum of 25\u00b0C and left on the skins for ten days. It then matures for nine years in 3,000-liter wooden barrels. This is a late release from a particularly good vintage; after the aging period, it was bottled exclusively in magnums. <\/p>\n<h5>Colour<\/h5>\n<p>: transparent brick red <\/p>\n<h5>Nose<\/h5>\n<p> The Valpolicella Classico Superiore Campo Casal Vegri Decennale 2008 impressively demonstrates the potential of the Campo Casal Vegri vineyard and how excellently this wine can develop. The Valpolicella is present in the glass from the very first moment. The usual sour cherry and wild berry fruit is much more subtle in this mature wine from 2008 than in the current 2016, but it is still certainly present. Notes of undergrowth, tobacco, and recently freshly wetted dry wood are more pronounced.
