Product description for Claude Riffault Sancerre blanc “Les Denisottes” AOC 2023 (bio)<\/p>\n

Les Denisottes is located very close to the winery, in Sury-en-Vaux. Three plots, totaling 1.1 hectares, are planted on flat, southeast-facing terrain at an altitude of approximately 260 meters. The vines are between 40 and 53 years old and planted on classic Kimmeridge limestone \u2013 the clayey-marly rock that brings depth and tension. Harvesting is, of course, done by hand, and selection is made in the vineyard. The grapes are then pressed very slowly and gently using pneumatic pressing. The must clears coolly and solely by gravity. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with the vineyard’s own yeasts. The wine is aged for 14 months in multi-fill wooden barrels on the full lees. Stirring? Rarely. And malolactic fermentation? Claude Riffault consistently omits it \u2013 in favor of freshness, precision, and structure. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

The 2023 Les Denisottes Sancerre blanc by Claude Riffault is extremely disciplined on the nose, eschewing stereotypical Sauvignon Blanc excesses. Instead, it is tidy and stony with citrus notes: lemon and lime zest, wet chalk, a hint of oyster shell, and light blossoms in the top note outline it with gentle restraint. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

Energetic on the palate, it practically pulsates. Its creamy, elegant texture is rooted in the stony, sparse minerality; the fruit shines through the wonderfully restrained yet juicy extract, which, despite all its austerity, lends it the necessary touch of charm. Without a doubt, a Sauvignon Blanc for adults.<\/p>\n
