Flo Busch and Georg Meissner have been friends for a long time. Flo looked after the vineyards during Georg’s time at the Lageder winery in South Tyrol. Now Georg is back, and they are realizing joint projects. One of these is the Meibusch, a Vin de deux amis, but also a wine from two different terroirs. The Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache vines used are between 30 and 120 years old. Grenache and Carignan come from the small community of Cassagnes in Roussillon, where they grew on granite and gneiss. Syrah and Carignan come from the limestone scree of the Terrasses du Larzac in the Languedoc. After two weeks of spontaneous fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks, the wine was then manually pressed in a small basket press. It then rested in stainless steel tanks for nine months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered with a total SO2 of 28 mg. 900 bottles were produced. <\/p>\n

The 2021 Meibusch combines three aromatic southern grape varieties from two different terroirs. Initially, Grenache takes the lead on the nose, with notes of ripe raspberries and a touch of licorice. Only a little later does the scent of elderberries, blackberries, cherries, a touch of beetroot, earth, and garrigue become clearer and more distinct. The slightly cool, stony note in the ripe fruit is also pleasant. <\/p>\n
On the palate, the Meibusch is impressively crisp. There’s plenty of sour and ripe cherry fruit, even a hint of red currant, but of course also blackberry. The warmth is represented by licorice, the coolness by stony minerality, mint, and a lively, almost taut acidity that harmonizes perfectly with the sweetness of the fruit. Finally, the wine glides across the palate with a fine texture. It is harmonious, lively, and very juicy.<\/p>\n
