Product description for Thomas Morey Santenay 1er Cru rouge Grand Clos Rousseau AOC 2023 <\/p>\n

The Grand Clos Rousseau, along with the Petit Clos Rousseau and Les Fourneaux, is part of the 23.83-hectare Clos Rousseau. It lies on the southern side of Santenay, towards Maranges. The largely destemmed grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts in a combination of neutral barrels and tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally. The proportion of new wood is around 20%. Sulfur is added only in the last six months in the barrel, and this is done several times with minimal doses, so that the wine never exceeds 35 mg\/l overall. <\/p>\n

: dark garnet red, quite transparent <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

: Thomas Morey’s Grand Clos Rousseau is characterized by cool, rather red, firm fruit, accompanied by undergrowth, rock, and a violet floral scent. The wine still seems a bit closed, but like all Thomas Morey red Burgundies, its aromas are very attractive and balanced, thanks to the subtle, never overpowering oak that’s always at play. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, the Clos Rousseau resembles the Clos Saint-Jean in the way the wine currently presents its somewhat assertive tannins. The wine still needs time and still seems quite austere overall, which is quite pleasant, as the Pinot Noir is clear, tidy, and firm until the fairly long finish.<\/p>\n
