Information about the wine<\/h5>\n

The Pinot Noir comes from the Premier Cru Aux Fourneaux vineyard in Savigny-l\u00e8s-Beaune, as well as from a part of the vineyard that is only declared as a local wine, which is why the “Premier Cru” designation has been omitted since the 2018 vintage. The municipality is located around three and a half kilometers northwest of Beaune and, with 383 hectares, has one of the most extensive vineyards in the region. In the Premier Cru Aux Fourneaux vineyard, Domaine Chandon de Briailles owns 1.68 hectares facing east with vines that are more than 60 years old. The soil is loamy and deep. In the upper part of the plot, limestone is also present in the topsoil. Spontaneous fermentation took place in a wooden cuv\u00e9e with 100% whole bunch grapes. The wine was then transferred by gravity to barriques and tonneaux with a small proportion of new wood. This was followed by approximately 18 months of aging without further movement or racking. Bottling took place directly from the barrel with a small addition of sulfur. <\/p>\n

Year after year, the Aux Fourneaux vineyard at Chandon de Briailles produces wonderfully open and inviting wines that are a pleasure to drink even early on. This is also the case in 2020, where the Pinot Noir presents itself as sensual and inviting. It is reminiscent of ripe sweet cherries with dark biscuit dough and a touch of vanilla, with cinnamon and ground chicory, wild berries and plums with a touch of sweet yeast. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, the 2020 Aux Fourneaux is juicy, silky, and hedonistic, with its ripe dark fruit, accompanied here by hints of vanilla and a touch of dark biscuit, as well as warm milk chocolate. At the same time, the fruit is accompanied by a strand of cool acidity and lively minerality that balances the dark warmth of the fruit. The tannin is smooth and elegant. This wine, as mentioned, is already a delight, but it still has years ahead of it.<\/p>\n
