It began in 2001 with the first vintage of the Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben Blaufr\u00e4nkisch. Since then, thanks in no small part to this wine, a Blaufr\u00e4nkisch style has been established, which is evident in the bottle shape. The name Moric stands for Blaufr\u00e4nkisch wines that stylistically lie somewhere between great Burgundies, Piedmontese, and Syrah from the Northern Rh\u00f4ne, yet are completely unique and possess equally great potential. The greatness of Velich&#8217;s wines, however, begins with the simple Blaufr\u00e4nkisch and with both the white and red house brands. These wines exemplify Velich&#8217;s claim that wines should be open-minded, inviting, fresh and juicy, complex and easy to drink. Serious Wine from a Gorgeous Place&#8221; opens with an intense and concentrated nose of ripe and concentrated white seed fruits, fresh lemon juice, limestone, iodine and green paprika. Full-bodied, dense yet lush and elegant on the palate, this is an intense, mouth-filling and tannic yet also finessed and balanced white from old Gr\u00fcner Veltliner vines. The wine is quite powerful and still bitter on the finish, so a year more in the bottle might help for more transparency and finesse. Diam cork.
