Wine Info<\/h5>\n

Challenging and very different from the rest of Europe. The Kamptal was the “rain island” in this dry year of 2022. After an exceptionally dry winter, the long-awaited rain arrived in mid-April. At the beginning of the harvest, we had as much rain in 6 months as we normally get in the whole year. Unfortunately, the distribution was not always favorable, and so there were losses due to downy mildew, especially in Gr\u00fcner Veltliner. As is often the case in such difficult years, the variety then responded with very good grape quality thanks to the “natural” thinning of the mildew. A dry August brought excellent ripeness, while a rainy September again presented a challenge at the beginning of the harvest. (Fred Loimer) <\/p>\n

Vinification Info<\/h5>\n

Selective hand-picking in 20 kg crates on September 29th and October 1st. and October 13, 2022. Maceration: whole bunch pressing. Fermentation: spontaneous, in steel tanks, 4-6 weeks at max. 20-22\u00b0C. <\/p>\n

Aging<\/h5>\n

in steel tanks, on full lees for 6 months, on the fine lees for a further 4 months. Bottling: August 30, 2023. <\/p>\n

Colour<\/h5>\n

Bright golden yellow with distinct green reflections. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

The nose of the 2022 Riesling Ried Loiserberg 1.\u00d6TW Riesling Kamptal displays immense freshness of green apple, lime, and grapefruit, blended with lemon balm, elderflower, and dried ginger. An extremely multifaceted aroma underpinned by a compact and intense minerality. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

What a vibrant freshness on the palate, stimulating acidity meets plenty of juicy fruit and a finely chiseled salty and mineral note. This wine practically floats over the tongue; you can’t seem to get enough of it. A dreamy pairing with a cuisine that seems as vibrant and multifaceted as the wine itself. Very good development potential, a delicate long-distance runner.<\/p>\n

The 2022 Ried Loiserberg 1\u00d6TW Riesling is aromatic and elegant on the intense nose, almost reminiscent of a Ludwig Ehn wine, with tantalizing floral notes. Juicy, intense and very salty in the mouth, with juicy fruit and spicy elegance, this is an excellent, aromatic and persistent Riesling classic from a producer whose wines have never tasted as good for many years as the 2022s and 2021s. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at Schloss Grafenegg, September 2023.
