Info from the Winemaker<\/h5>\n

Southeast-facing hillside location in Winden on the Letha Mountains. Above this magnificent vineyard stands a cooling forest, below one can see Lake Neusiedl. Enormous cherry trees grow in the rows, and everywhere\u2014in the barren limestone soil\u2014one finds the millions of years old fossils from Urmer, which lend this wine its magnificent minerality. <\/p>\n

<\/h5>\n
Vinification<\/h5>\n

Careful biodynamic cultivation, hand-picked in mid- to late September, spontaneous fermentation, three weeks in amphora and on the skins, gently pressed with a basket press, and aged for 42 months in amphora and in used 500l oak barrels. <\/p>\n

Color<\/h5>\n

Deep violet red, black at the core. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

What a scent: black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, sloe, and josta berries line the palate. With oxygen, distinct notes of leather, tobacco, wood smoke, and licorice emerge from the glass. All underpinned by wild herbs and a profound and captivating minerality that is second to none. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, the 2019 Ried Windener Alter Berg Blaufr\u00e4nkisch literally grabs you with an invigorating yet polished tannin and acid structure. Here, too, the magnificent minerality comes to the fore perfectly, and the fruity cherry and berry aromas captivate the senses. Very good aging potential, a wonderful accompaniment to intense braised and grilled dishes!<\/p>\n
