Wine Information<\/h5>\n

Les Charmes is a vineyard on the left bank of the Vienne River, on the hills of Anch\u00e9, the neighboring municipality of Sazilly. The Cabernet Franc vines are 35 years old; the terroir is clayey and limestone, and the vineyard faces north. The Cabernet Franc from Les Charmes undergoes a cool pre-fermentation for five days. The skin fermentation in wooden vats lasts around 15 days at temperatures of 24\u00b0C to 26\u00b0C. The free-run wine is blended with the best press wines. Malolactic fermentation and six to eight months of aging take place in large oak barrels. <\/p>\n

Colour<\/h5>\n

Bright garnet red with a hint of brick red on the rim. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

The Cabernet Franc impresses with its abundance of red berries, including their stalks, red bell peppers and Piment d’Espelette, a hint of musk, and garden herbs. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

The fact that this wine is said to have been aged for six years is only noticeable in direct comparison with a 2019 vintage, where the tannins are more pronounced. Otherwise, the 2016 Les Charmes is very young and untamed. On the palate, the tannins begin to melt. The Chinon is juicy and powerful. A hint of pyrazine can still be found in the red berry fruit and the notes of bell pepper and tomato. The acidity is impressively high, the tannins are present, and the long finish is also extremely juicy. It has a lot of potential!<\/p>\n
