Wine Information<\/h5>\n

This blend of 90% Corinto and 10% Nero d’Avola is grown at an altitude of 350 m on volcanic and sandy soil. Spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels for one year, followed by stabilization in steel tanks. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. <\/p>\n

Colour<\/h5>\n

Muted cherry red with delicate brick-red reflections. <\/p>\n

Nose<\/h5>\n

The 2018 Nero Ossidiana is a beautifully mature red wine blend with aromas of ripe wild raspberries, cranberries, blackberries, and plum jam. The fruity aroma is enveloped by smoky notes reminiscent of light tobacco, cedarwood, freshly cracked pepper, and grilled meat. A hint of chocolate is also present \u2013 a truly charming Sicilian wine with finesse. <\/p>\n

Palate<\/h5>\n

On the palate, it indulges with plenty of fruit, stimulating acidity, powerful minerality, and a fine-grained yet pleasantly challenging tannin structure. A perfect accompaniment to down-to-earth, tasty, intense, Italian-inspired cuisine.<\/p>\n

A blend of 90% Corinto Nero and 10% Nero d’Avola, the Tenuta di Castellaro 2018 Nero Ossidiana is fermented in stainless steel but finishes its malolactic fermentation in large oak casks to impart extra textural softness and fiber. Some 8,000 bottles were produced in this vintage, and organically farmed vines are planted in sandy volcanic soils that are rich in minerals. This wine is fragrant and pure with dried lilac and rose petal. This vintage offers some sweet cherry fruit to the palate followed by crisp acidity. That freshness would cut through a classic lasagna al forno. This wine is named after the glass-like black lava rocks, obsidian, that absorb so much heat and sunshine throughout the growing season.
